MAA Lung Perfusion Scan in Bangalore
MAA Lung Scan
An MAA Lung Scan (also called a Lung Perfusion Scan) is a nuclear medicine test that checks blood flow (perfusion) in your lungs. It uses a small amount of a safe radioactive tracer called 99mTc-MAA (Technetium-labeled Macroaggregated Albumin) injected into your vein. A special gamma camera then takes images of the lungs to show how well blood is flowing.
This scan is mainly used to detect blood clots in the lungs (pulmonary embolism) and to assess lung function before surgery or in chronic lung diseases.
